A Day of Learning, Worship, and Fellowship at Church in Fort Wayne

Redeemer’s Thursday Homeschool Day begins with Matins at 8:30 a.m., where homeschool families are encouraged to gather with Redeemer Classical School students for morning prayer and song. Worshiping together at the start of the day reminds us that all knowledge begins with the fear and love of the Lord (Proverbs 1:7). Following Matins, Pastor Barnett leads a class on ancient history, designed for students ages 9–12. The class explores the great civilizations of the ancient world through the lens of Christian truth, helping students understand how God’s providence guided history toward the coming of Christ.

At 10:00 a.m., the students enjoy recess with Redeemer Classical School, a time for friendship and laughter in the fresh air. After recess, Pastor David Petersen teaches a class on the early Church in the book of Acts, continuing the journey through the foundations of Christian history. Students learn about the apostles, the spread of the Gospel, and the life of the early believers who carried Christ’s light into the world. This rich combination of worship, learning, and community provides homeschool students with meaningful spiritual and academic enrichment each week.

Faithful Teaching and Supportive Fort Wayne Church Community

This new homeschool initiative is organized by Mrs. Rachel Lent and a team of dedicated helpers, under the leadership of Redeemer’s pastors. Together, they’ve created an environment where students can grow not only in knowledge but also in faith, character, and friendship. For families who homeschool, finding a church community that shares your educational and spiritual priorities can be a tremendous blessing. Redeemer Lutheran Church strives to be that place, a church in Fort Wayne where families are supported, encouraged, and strengthened in Christ.

Redeemer’s pastors and teachers understand the importance of connecting classical learning with the truths of Scripture. Every class and every gathering is grounded in the conviction that Jesus Christ is the center of all knowledge and the Lord of every subject. Whether studying ancient empires or the early Church, students learn to see history as His story, the unfolding of God’s plan of salvation
