Web streaming and archiving back in business

We are streaming our daily Matins services here again. Please join us with your Brotherhood Prayer Books. The Order of Morning Prayer (what we call Matins) is found on page 38 of the BPB. We then turn to our 5 Psalms for the day in the middle of the book. After the Psalms, we turn to our daily propers (p. 349ff) that contain the Responsory to the reading, the Hymn, the Versicle, and the Benedictus. We pray Matins daily at 7:00 a.m. You can join us live, or you can pray it later, since it’s archived for 30 days.

Don’t have a Brotherhood Prayer Book and want one? Visit Emmanuel Press to purchase your copy.

Ordination Sermon full of truth and comfort

This isn’t your typical ordination sermon. Pastor Petersen preaches the truth about growth in a congregation, evangelism, and the false expectations many times found in a congregation and a new pastor. This is comfort for the congregation and the pastor. “We preach Christ crucified, and though it is folly to the world to those who are called—both Jews and Greeks, and even to Americans—Christ and His cross are the power of God and the wisdom of God.”

Read it here.

God’s blessings to Pastor Burfiend as he begins preaching, teaching, and administering the sacraments at New Hope Lutheran Church in Ossian, IN. God’s blessings also to the people he has been called to serve; may they grow in their faith through his preaching and teaching.

Good Friday Tre Ore

Tre Ore means “Three Hours”

From 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. we will have three consecutive, separate services that can be attended straight through or individually, as you have time for.

The first hour (12:00 p.m.) is the Liturgy of the Catechumens with the sung Passion from St. John’s Gospel, Sermon, and Bidding Prayer.

The second hour (1:15 p.m.) is the Liturgy of the Holy Communion with the Adoration of the Cross, the Reproaches, and the Pange Lingua Glroioso (Hymn: Sing my Tongue).

The third hour (2:15 p.m.) is the Order of Vespers with sermon.

Those serving include:

Redeemer’s Coat of Arms hanging in place

Our Coat of Arms was featured in an art show at Concordia Theological Seminary. Now it’s hanging back in place on our balcony front. This is what congregants see as they are exiting the Nave. What a blessing it is to have fine, liturgical art in our Nave.
