Redeemer Newsletter – March 2018

The final Lenten supper this year, on March 22, will be an opportunity to support the Concordia Theological Seminary’s Food and Clothing Co-op. Personal care items and over-the-counter medications are always needed. You can also feel free to bring food or clothing in good repair that you would like to donate. Bring your items and join us for soup and salad before the service. There is a box for the items in the coat room off the narthex. Funds for the dinner are being provided by a Thrivent grant.

Ladies, it’s time to start thinking about Easter hats! The hat library is available in the meeting room. Just write down a brief description of the hat and your name. In addition, if you don’t see something in the meeting room, Jane has a number of hats that she would be willing to lend.

There will be a Hymn Sing on Sunday, April 8, at 3:00 p.m. It will follow the same general format as the last one. We will be singing some Easter favorites. It will be followed by refreshments, thanks to a grant from Thrivent.

Parents of youth ages 12 to 18:  We are planning a trip for the Youth to Bowling Green, Kentucky.  The retreat is planned for this summer, Monday, June 11th through Friday June 14th.  Please contact Matthew Garnett ( as soon as possible for further details.

There will be a rummage sale on April 27-28. The proceeds will be split between the Ladies Aid and the stained glass window repairs. Items that you wish to donate for the rummage sale can be taken to the storage room. If you need help or directions, just ask!

Attached to this newsletter is a form for ordering Scrip. The Ladies Aid will use the proceeds for their missions activities which include supporting the Ritzman family and mailing their newsletter several times a year and supporting a number of local organizations. These forms will be due the first Sunday of every month. (For April that is EASTER.) Attach a check to the form with “Scrip” in the memo line. If you have any questions, talk to Karen Koons. If you would like to purchase scrip but prefer not to write checks, email Jane at, and we can work out a way for you to pay electronically.

We are about to begin the next round of repairs to the stained glass. Donations have continued to come in, and, in addition, Effie Sheron has had more of the old stained glass that was in the attic framed and made suitable for hanging. These pieces are beautiful! Those that are finished and not yet sold can be seen in the office, and are available for purchase. These are going quickly.

Join us to play darts the third Saturday  of each month in the undercroft. Adults and teens are welcome. If you don’t really want to play, but would like to come and socialize, that’s fine, too!  Talk to Pastor Petersen for more information, or look for “Redeemer Darts” on Facebook.

The spring voters meeting will be Sunday, April 29th.  This will be the budget meeting.
