  • The fall voters meeting is Sunday, October 22nd at noon.  We will have elections and will be talking about calling a pastor for the mission in Homer.
  • Matins is every weekday morning at 8:30.  The children from Redeemer Classical attend and is a wonderful way to start the morning.
  • 40 Days for Life is on October 25th from 2 to 8 pm.  We will be in the public right of way outside the Parkwest Shopping Center where Planned Parenthood is located; 3914 West Jefferson Boulevard.  There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board.  It is a grassy area with parking right next to it, so little kids and those who can’t walk far are also welcome.  We will be saying prayers and singing a hymn or two each hour.  If you have any questions, email secretary.redeemer@gmail.com or call Jane in the church office.

  • All Saints Day 2017, which we will be observing on November 5th, will mark the 125th Anniversary of Redeemer Lutheran Church.  The Rev. Dr. Wallace Schultz, former Lutheran Hour speaker, will be preaching that Sunday.  We will also have a potluck after church.  Please join us!
  • New Directory photos have been taken.  We will be determining whether we need to offer one more opportunity.  Please check your information on the family sheets that are available in the narthex.  There are blanks available for those who don’t have one.
  • Our 125th Anniversary celebration continues with a Hymn Sing on Sunday, November 19th at 4 pm.  Join us for some favorites of the end of the church year, followed by refreshments in the undercroft.
  • Pastor Petersen’s Bible Class on Sunday mornings meets in the undercroft.  They will be moving through John’s Gospel until September.  Everyone is welcome.  Pastor Frese leads a Sunday morning adult bible class in the “Luther Room”.  This study’s focus is the “Sunday School” bible stories you learned as a child, covering the major events and characters that are leading God’s fulfilled promise of a Savior.  This discussion-format environment allows us to explore the basic biblical doctrine in these accounts, along with basic Lutheran doctrine drawn from them.  Questions and comments from participants are welcomed.  Involvement by participants is fluid between Pastor Frese’s and Pastor Petersen’s classes.  Feel free to jump back and forth as you want.
  • Redeemer Classical School is off to a great start.  The pastors and Jane are enjoying having the kids in the building.  While there is still work to be done on the third floor and the courtyard, much as been done and they are looking good.  They invite anyone who would like to join them on their Friday afternoon nature walks.  Give them a look at www.fortwayneclassical.com .
  • Keep an eye on the website.  Matthew Garnett and Emily Thompson are both helping with various aspects of it and we are adding more features.  You can access the church photo directory in the password protected part of the site.
  • Join us to play darts the third Saturday of each month in the undercroft.  Adults and teens are welcome.  If you don’t really want to play, but would like to come and socialize, that’s fine too!  Talk to Pastor Petersen for more information or look for “Redeemer Darts” on Facebook.

Don’t Forget to Your Will Done *Free of Charge*!

For the next two weeks, Concordia Theological Seminary is offering sign ups to have your final will and testament drafted free of charge!  The only caveat is that you have to designate at least $1 of your estate to the charity or non-profit of your choice.

One thing that has helped Redeemer be effective in preaching the Gospel is our endowment fund.  While it is not required that you designate funds from your estate to Redeemer, we are hoping this might serve as an excellent opportunity for you to contribute to our church.

Please pick up a copy of the handout sheet with all the details.  The handouts are located in the narthex.  Thanks so much!
